Laverne Lucille Knight

LaVerne Lucille Knight, 87, of Ballinger, passed away Friday, June 3, 2016, at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, Texas.


She was born July 28, 1928 to Stanley and Minnie (Cargill) Minshall in Norton, Kansas. After graduating high school, LaVerne married Walton Thomas (Junior) Knight on December 21, 1947 in Dodge City, Kansas. They shared forty-eight years together before Walton’s passing on June 16, 1996. She moved from Ballinger to San Angelo that year where she resided at Christian Village for the remaining years of her life. LaVerne was a senior companion in San Angelo and was a member of the Catholic Church.


LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and a sister, and a son, Robert Knight.


She is survived by her children, Billie Qualls of Spavinaw, OK, Charlene Shape of Sutton, AK, Wally Knight of Greencastle, IN., John Knight of Menard, TX, George Knight and Theresa McDaniel of Ballinger, Mary Carnes of San Angelo, Pat Knight of Albuquerque, N.M., Andy Knight of North Bend, OR., and Angela Thompson of Novona, TX.


Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, June 8, at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 9, at Lange Funeral Home Chapel with Father Hugh Wade officiating. Burial will follow at the Knight Family Cemetery.
