Linda Crockett Johnson

Linda Crockett Johnson, 75, of Ballinger, passed away early Sunday morning, June 5, 2016, at Ballinger Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 10, 1940 in Ballinger to D.B. and Wanda (Lane) Crockett. Linda married Wayne Johnson on December 22, 1956 in Ballinger, and they shared over fifty- nine years together.

Linda worked as a bookkeeper for the family business, Bal-Tex Distributing Company for 24 years. She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Ballinger and served many years as the church organist.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Wayne; two daughters, Vicki Rieken and husband, Jay of Comfort and Cindy Spreen and husband, Kevin of Ballinger; her brother, Lane Crockett of Shreveport, La.; and very special friend, Norma Middleton of Arlington. She was the beloved grandmother “Mema” to Lindy Shore and husband, J. D., Chase Bowman and wife, Amber, James Bowman, Payton Spreen and wife, Lauren, Haley Spreen, and Chance Rieken; and great-grandchildren, Brooke, Rachel and Raylan.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. William Petersen of Scott & White Hospital in Temple, and to Dr. Bradly Bundrant and the nursing staff at Ballinger Memorial Hospital for their loving care of our mother.

Services for Linda will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, June 8, at the First Christian Church with Lynn Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
