Bertha Martinez, age 88, formerly a long time resident of Ballinger, Texas passed away at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, Tx on Tuesday June 14, 2016.

Bertha was born on March 21, 1928 in San Antonio, Texas.

Bertha was a dedicated and hard worker. She was an amazingly strong and loving woman who worked hard to raise her family and always provide anything anyone ever needed. She was always willing to lend and hand and be a shoulder to lean on no matter who you were. Bertha was a devoted and loving mother. She was very proud of her family. She was excited and loved rejoicing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all accomplishments. She thoroughly enjoyed in seeing and sharing her love and time with her big family. Holidays and family gatherings held a special place in her heart. Any chance to spend time with family was important to her. She loved spending time cooking, threading beads to make jewelry, sewing anything from clothes to blankets and crocheting. One of her greatest companions who she loved dearly was her baby Chihuahua Daisy. They spent countless hours a day in each others presence.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Concepcion Garcia.

She is survived by her six sons Felix, Joe, Mike, Johnny, Jesse and Robert Martinez; her three daughters Ramona Chapa, Juanita Adams and Angelita Martinez; from her nine children she has 25 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

She was one of the greatest motivators, miracles, mother and grandmother God ever gave. She will be missed and forever loved by all who knew her.

Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Friday, June 17 at Lange Funeral Home Chapel in Ballinger. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 18 at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ballinger with Fr. Hugh Wade celebrating. Burial will follow at the Latin American Cemetery.
