Jerry Lynn Candler

Jerry Lynn Candler, 75, of Arlington entered the gates of Heaven on Monday, August 8, 2016, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

He was born December 20, 1940 to Lynn and Jeannie (Pearce) Candler in Ballinger, Texas. He graduated from Ballinger High School in 1959 and was a four year letterman for the Bearcat football team. After graduating from BHS, he attended Rice University on a football scholarship. He was a three year letterman and played in the Sugar Bowl in January 1961 and the Bluebonnet Bowl in December 1961. He graduated from Rice in 1963. Jerry married Jean “Sistie” Edens from Talpa on June 22, 1962 in Houston, Texas. They shared fifty-four loving years together. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Arlington.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; his children, Sheri Tadlock and husband, Wesley of Fort Worth, Texas, Jena Takemura and husband, Michael of Spring, Texas, Lori Bevers and husband, Bryan of Fort Worth, Texas, and John Candler and wife, Jamie of Mansfield, Texas; his grandchildren, Ashley Burleson and husband, John of Fort Worth, Texas, Chivas, Kennedy, and Evan Bevers, and Ava-Lyn Lucile Candler.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:30-7:30 pm on Friday, August 12 at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 13 at the First United Methodist Church in Ballinger with David Mosser, of the First United Methodist Church in Arlington, officiating. Burial will follow at Talpa Cemetery in Talpa, Texas.
