William "Willie" Joseph Binder

William “Willie” Joseph Binder, 91, of Ballinger passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 at Central Texas Nursing and Rehabilitation in Ballinger, just 2 weeks shy of his 92nd birthday.

He was born October 9, 1924 in Rowena, Texas to Jacob J. and Frances (Zly) Binder. He served his country during World War II, as a member of the United States Army, and was honorably discharged in 1946. After leaving the service, he returned home and married Betty Jean Johnson on June 20, 1956 in Ballinger. They shared 49 years together before her passing on June 11, 2006. Willie was a life-long farmer and had a great passion for fishing. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the VFW Rowena post.

Wille was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother, Edmund Binder, Sr.; and a nephew, Joe Binder.

He is survived by his daughter, Shirley Waller and husband, Charles of Ballinger; sisters in-law, Dorine Binder of Ballinger and Gladys Talley of Abilene, TX; his grandchildren, Allison Busenlehner and husband Zack and Jeffrey Waller and wife Sarah; special nephew, Ed Binder and wife, Karen of Ballinger; special friend, Pauline Mazur of Ballinger; cousin, Edwin Zly and wife, Eldoris; several nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, September 28 at Lange Funeral Home Chapel in Ballinger. Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 29 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ballinger with Fr. Yesu and Fr. Hubert Wade officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Rowena.
