B. J. ("Beedy") Gully

January 14, 1951 — July 3, 2009

After a very brief illness, B. J. “Beedy” Gully, Jr., 58, of Rowena, went to meet his Heavenly Father on Friday, July 3, 2009. He died in Ballinger Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

B. J. was born on January 14, 1951 in Ballinger to B. J. and LaVerne (Halfmann) Gully. He graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1969. He attended Tarleton State and Angelo State University before returning home to farm and ranch with his dad. One of his greatest accomplishments was graduating from the Faith Bible Institute in 2006 after completing three semesters of studies, achieving all A’s and only one B. He was a founding member of Berean Baptist Church in Grape Creek to which he was a faithful servant for eighteen years, having helped many who were in need. He served as a deacon in the church along with being the treasurer and song leader. He admired the missionaries who served overseas, and he helped many lost souls find the Lord. He loved working at the ranch with his cattle and horses and had many friends at Producers Livestock Auction, Hitch Feeder in Kansas, and Angelo Feed Yards.

Beedy gave his life to the Lord in 1979 at Baptist Tabernacle in San Angelo. He took time out of each and every day to pray for all his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, B. J. Gully Sr.; nephew Matt Gully; and grandparents, Gus and Bernadine Gully, and A.T. and Lena Halfmann.

B. J. is survived by his mom LaVerne Gully of Rowena; special longtime friends, Debbye and Ashley Stahl; his brother, Pat Gully and wife, Carolyn, of Lawn; sisters, Diana Hernandez and husband, Ray, Sandy Cole and husband, Phil, Mary Huey and husband, Dickie, all of San Angelo, Ann Gully of Fredericksburg, Lisa Faris and husband, Hal, of San Antonio. Nieces and nephews surviving are Colete Manahan, Ginger Luthur, Misty and Monty Keeney, Hally Brannon and Sterling Cole, Shabeen Alizadeh, Lauhren White, Adrian Huey and Tatum Faris.
