Lena Kretschmer Halfmann

Lena Kretschmer Halfmann, 98, of San Angelo passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 at Regency House in San Angelo.

She was born August 17, 1918 in Haskell County, Texas to Herman and Mary (Steinfath) Kretschmer. Lena married Herbert Robert Halfmann on November 18, 1948 in Olfen, Texas. They shared thirty-five years together before his passing on March 2, 1984. Lena was a homemaker, raising two daughters. She was an active member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Olfen. Lena was a member of the St. Boniface Altar Society and Christian Mother’s Association. Lena loved keeping up with all the activities of her grandkids and great-grandkids and hearing about the crops growing on her land. She made many quilts and spent many hours in her yard tending to her flowers. She always enjoyed a good game of dominoes.

Lena is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Herbert and Walter Kretschmer; and sisters, Lydia Ivy and Helen Dudensing.

She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Weishuhn and husband, Gary of Paint Rock, Texas and Jo Ann Weishuhn and husband, Allen of Vancourt, Texas; her grandchildren, Brady Weishuhn and wife, Stephanie, Justin Weishuhn and wife, Pam, Laurie Teplicek and husband, Grant, and Shea Wilson and husband, Jon; sister, Bettie Bittner of Haskell, Texas; and sisters-in-laws, Genevieve Halfmann, Pearl Halfmann, and Marie Kretschmer; her great-grandchildren, Gage and Renly Weishuhn. Jace and Jett Weishuhn, Hunter, Hutson, and Holt Teplicek, and Ryler and Radley Wilson.

Rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, October 12 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Olfen. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 13 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Fr. Ariel Lagunilla celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.

Lena’s grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family request that any memorials be made to the St. Boniface Cemetery Fund or a favorite charity. The family would like to thank Rio Concho Terrace, Regency House, Hospice of San Angelo and Anna Dena for her care.
