May 22, 1943 — July 14, 2009

Donald Ray Whitlock, “Big Daddy,” of Ballinger went to be with the Lord on July 14, 2009 at age 66.

Donald was born May 22, 1943 in Dallas to Ned and Mary (McDaniel) Whitlock. He served in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Hood and served a tour in Korea. Following his military service, Don became a police officer for the city of Hillsboro. Thereafter, he was a self-employed painter. He and Myrtle Jane Odom were married on October 5, 1963 in Hillsboro. Out of that union were born three children, Mary Eva, Billy Ray, and Donna Lynn. He was currently serving on the Lake Board for Ballinger Country Club and was a member of the Seventh Street Baptist Church in Ballinger.

Donald loved to fish, hunt, and race cars. He always said that fish would tremble at the mention of his name. He dearly loved the time he could spend with his many friends and family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his son, Billy Ray.

Donald is survived by his wife, Jane Whitlock of Ballinger; daughters, Mary Eva Wilson and husband, Dean, of Abilene, Donna Lynn Whitlock and Brandi Love; grandchildren, Jessica Buxkemper, Hollie Harrell, Calvin McCutchen, Maegen and Joseph Love, and Brandi Wilson. The family will be receiving friends on Friday, July 17 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger.
