Lawrence Kenton (L.K.) Lankford, 87, of Lubbock passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 in Lubbock.
He was born October 9, 1929, in Ballinger to Lawrence King and Christine (Scott) Lankford. He honorably served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He returned to Ballinger and married Barbara Joan Berry on February 3, 1952. L.K. and his wife owned and operated several different construction related businesses in Lubbock over their forty-two year career. He was an elder at Quaker Avenue Church of Christ in Lubbock from 1988 to 1992 and served as deacon for ten years.
L.K. was preceded in death by a son, Lamar Kevin Lankford and a brother, Don Lankford.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Lankford; a daughter, Kenan Gilbert and her husband, Ronnie of Lubbock; a son, Scott Lankford of Lubbock; a granddaughter, Kenley Skinner and her husband, Matt; and a grandson, Lex Curry, and his wife, Robin.
Visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27th, at Ninth Street Church of Christ in Ballinger. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 28th at Ninth Street Church of Christ with burial to follow at Crews Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Ninth Street Church of Christ, 1100 N. 9th St., Ballinger, TX 76821.
