Loyd “Gene” Yocham, 81, of Ballinger passed away Monday, November 7, 2016 in San Angelo.
He was born March 5, 1935 to Loyd Howard and Nora Mae (Hodges) Yocham in Mertzon, Texas. Gene graduated from Rankin High School in 1952 and attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX. On August 1, 1954, he married Cordelia Flanagan in Ballinger, TX. He spent most of his life in the oilfield, starting in West Texas, going to Oklahoma, Venezuela, and Brazil. Upon returning to Texas, he spent the rest of his life as a farmer and rancher.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Cordelia of Ballinger; their sons, Eddie Yocham and wife, Valerie of Evant, TX, Matt Yocham and wife, Sally of Lafeyette, LA, and Howard Yocham and wife, Dana of Fredericksburg, TX, , grandchildren, Clayton, Yale, Emily Robichaux and husband, Derek, Zane and wife, Argentina, Eric, Mandy, and Brittany and Blaine Brady; great-grandchildren, Addison, Bella, Zoe, and Braxton; brother, Mac Yocham and wife, Leta of Glen Rose, TX; and brother-in-law, Rodney Flanagan and wife, Carolyn of Ballinger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday at Old Runnels Cemetery in Ballinger followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Brenda Church officiating.
