Jorita Duke Taff, 85, of Ballinger passed away Monday, November 21, 2016 in Bronte.
She was born April 1, 1931 to John and Modenia (Barnett) Duke in San Angelo, Texas. After high school, Jorita married Merle Howard Taff on September 4, 1948 in Ballinger, Texas. She was a “domestic engineer” for most of her life. She was a member of the Seventh Street Baptist Church in Ballinger, serving as a Sunday school teacher, leader of the Joy Group, Church Treasurer, and Church Pianist.
Jorita was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of sixty eight years, Merle Taff of Ballinger; her son, Howard Taff and wife, Dinah of Ballinger; grandchildren, Jonna Boatright and husband, Kirk of Miles, TX, Jeffi Taff-Moeller of Miles, TX, and Jake Taff and wife, Lauren of Ballinger; great-grandchildren, Saige and Sadie Boatright and Landon Moeller.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00-7:00 pm on Friday, November 25 at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 26 at the Seventh Street Baptist Church in Ballinger with Rev. Ferris Akins officiating. Burial will follow at Old Runnels Cemetery in Ballinger.
