Jack Davis, Sr., 86, of Winters, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene.
He was born on January 10, 1930 in Brady, Texas to Homer and Bertha Davis. He had two older siblings, Sam and Martha.
He married Frances Marie Williams in January of 1950. They were married for 58 years until her passing in 2008.
Jack was drafted into the United States Marine Corps in 1952 and served in California until he was sent overseas to back up the cease fire in Korea. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1954.
Jack also had many other jobs throughout his life including delivering telegrams, working as an EMT, ministering, and dispatching for the Winters Volunteer Fire Department where he was a member for over 40 years.
He enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes, playing the organ, and visiting with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Margie, his son, Jack Jr. and his wife Saffron, his daughter-in-law, Mary, his sister-in-law, Patsy Staggs, and her husband Bobby, his grandchildren Jennifer, Justin, J.T., and his wife Melissa, Brandon and his wife Christina, Tia, Kayla, and her husband Josiah, his great grandchildren, Jose, Joseph Jr., Jayson, Nolan, Olivia, Jessie, Destiny, Zoey, Jojo, Brooklynn, and Hannah along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Frances, his son Ricky, and his great granddaughters Savannah and Kate.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 10 at First Baptist Church in Winters. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Winters.
