Colleen Mosier Carter

May 25, 1929 — October 7, 2009

Colleen Mosier Carter, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed into the loving arms of her heavenly father Wednesday, October 7, 2009.

She was born May 25, 1929 in Lowake, Texas to Carl and Ruby Mosier. After her graduation from Paint Rock, the family moved to Norton where she met the love of her life. Lanham Mac Carter and Colleen Mosier were married August 5, 1948 and started their life together in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he was stationed with the Air Force. In 1953 they moved to Norton and welcomed the arrival of their first child, Cheryl Lynn. Four years later they were blessed with their second child, Mark Wade.

Colleen worked for First Savings and Loan, which later became City Savings, where she held her customers in high esteem. She also was involved in Beta Sigma Phi and other service organizations. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ballinger where she worshipped faithfully until recent health issues.

She was preceded in death by her parents and special brother, Larry.

Colleen is survived by her life-long partner of sixty-one years, Lanham Mac Carter; her children, Mark Carter and wife, Diane, and Cheryl Clayton and husband, Manse, all of Ballinger; her adoring grandchildren, 2nd Lt. Alyson Strube of Wichita Falls, and Tyler Carter of San Antonio; and special great-grandchild, Caleb Strube. Other survivors include brother-in-law, Nealon Carter and wife, Sue; nieces, Marcia King and husband, Frank, and Donna Bryant and husband, Scott; and nephews, Trey and Steven Mosier. She was "grandmother" to Eric Lugo, James Clayton, and Regina Zaruba. Numerous family and friends also mourn her loss.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 10 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Ballinger.

Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
