Merle Howard Taff

Merle Howard Taff, 89, of Ballinger, Texas passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, Texas.
He was born August 25, 1928 to Roy and Dorothy (Seipp) Taff in Winters, Texas. He married Jorita Duke on September 4, 1948 in Ballinger, Texas. They shared sixty-eight years together before her passing on November 21, 2016. He was a farmer and rancher, in Runnels County, all his life. Merle was a member of Seventh Street Baptist Church in Ballinger.
Merle is preceded in death by his wife, Jorita; his parents; and two sisters, Evelyn Smauley and Eloise Benier.
He is survived by his son, Howard Taff and wife, Dinah of Ballinger; his grandchildren, Jonna Boatright and husband Kirk of Miles, TX and Jeffi Taff-Moeller of Miles, TX, and Jacob (Jake) Taff and wife, Lauren of Ballinger; great-grandchildren, Saige and Sadie Boatright and Landon Moeller; and a sister, Kathy Hayner and husband, Merv of Boerne, TX.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, January 7 from 1:30-2:00 pm at the Seventh Street Baptist Church in Ballinger with services following at 2:30 pm. Burial will be at Old Runnels Cemetery.
