Michael Dean Ely

Michael Dean Ely, 65, of Ballinger, Texas passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Bronte Healthcare and Rehabilitation.
He was born July 5, 1952 to Spencer and Ruth (Rollins) Ely in Kermit, Texas. He worked at many jobs in his life but considered working at the Jal New Mexico Police Department his career. He was a volunteer fire fighter for thirty-one years; it was what he felt best about doing in his life. He also rehabilitated abused dachshunds and was devoted to his family.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Steve.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Haston-Ely; children, Christina Buchanan, Marsha Reitmire, James Ely, Michael Dewayne Ely, and Spencer Ely; his four grandchildren; his ex-wife, Betty Miller; and his in-laws, John and Ann Haston; and brother-in-law, David Haston.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Ninth Street Church of Christ with Max Pratt officiating.
