August R. Cmerek, 90, of Miles passed away Monday, December 14, 2009 at his residence.
He was born August 28, 1919 in Corn Hill, Texas, which is in Williamson County, to John and Mary (Kubacak) Cmerek. He and Dorine Braden were married November 25, 1947 in Rowena, and the couple raised their family and farmed in the Miles area for many years. During World War II, August proudly served his country in the US Army, including active duty in the South Pacific. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Miles and a member of the Rowena Post of VFW. Family and friends will remember his deep devotion to his family, as well as his great enjoyment of fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents and all seven of his brothers and sisters.
August is survived by his loving wife, Dorine Cmerek of Miles; a son, Tommy Cmerek and wife, Dana, of Miles; three daughters, Diane Gorchs and husband, Fernando, of Austin, Jean Perry and husband, Dan, and Kay Lampe and husband, Paul, all of Boerne. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Brooklyn and Shelby Cmerek, Lia Gorchs, Jill and Erin Perry, Sam and Ben Lampe; sister-in-law, Ruby Ullrich of Miles; and brother-in-law, Hugo Braden and his wife, Susann, of Upper Marlboro, MD. August also leaves behind a most beloved pet, Randy.
Rosary will be recited Thursday, December 17 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Miles. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 18 also at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Rev. Chinnapparaj (Paul) Mariasavary officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Rowena.
Pallbearers will be John Cmerek, Jim Cmerek, Eugene Cmerek, Ben Lampe, Sam Lampe and Allen Ullrich.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of San Angelo or to a favorite charity.
