Dause O. Sherman, 85, of Ballinger passed away Saturday, January 16, 2010 in Ballinger Healthcare and Rehab Nursing Center.
He was born February 11, 1924 in Runnels County to William Edward and Addie Richardson Sherman. During World War II he proudly served his country in the US Navy as a Gunners Mate 3rd. Class. He and Allene Blackmon were married on May 4, 1944 in Ballinger. They were members of the Seventh Street Baptist Church. For over 21 years he was employed as a lab technician for the City of Ballinger. He later served as a City Council Commissioner from 1992 to 1994. He was an avid Square Dancer.
Dause was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Joe and Burrell.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Allene of Ballinger; two sons, Dennis Sherman and wife, Martha of Abilene and Kenneth Sherman and wife, Ruth of San Angelo; five grandchildren, Kevin Sherman, Becky West, Michael Sherman, Tracy Randolph, and Kelly Tankersley. Twenty great grandchildren also survive.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 18, 2010 at the Old Runnels Cemetery with Rev. David Williams officiating. A time of visitation will be prior to the service starting at 12:30 PM at Lange Funeral Home.
The family requests that memorials be made to Ballinger Hospice, Seventh Street Baptist Church, or a favorite charity.
