Felda Jansa Schraer

Felda Jansa Schraer, 85, of Miles passed away on Monday, January 25, 2010 at Sagecrest Alzheimer’s Care Center in San Angelo.

Felda was born to Louis and Amalia Schwertner Jansa on October 20, 1924 at Rowena, Texas. She attended Cross Roads School and later graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in 1942. She married Ervin Schraer on November 26, 1946 in Rowena. Ervin and Felda spent their married life on their farm at Miles raising their daughters and farming.

Felda was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Joseph Church in Rowena where she was a member of St. Ann Altar Society. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and quilting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Andrew and Alfonse; and sisters, Mollie Lange and Alice Kitten.

Felda is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ervin of Miles; three daughters, Pat Hudgins and husband, Jimmy, of Hermleigh, Donna Rutledge and husband, Raymond, of San Angelo, and Rhonda Schraer of Kingwood; grandchildren, Dr. Jack Hudgins of Lubbock, Josh Hudgins of Garland, Chad Rutledge and wife Kristin, Valarie Whitney and husband, Dr. Travis Whitney; and two great-grandchildren, Mason James Rutledge and Lane Raymond Whitney all of San Angelo. Also surviving is her sister, Gertrude Kellermeier and husband, Edward, of Mereta; brother, Paul Jansa and wife, Ethel, of Rowena; and sister-in-law, Virgie Jansa of Ballinger.

Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, January 28 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Chinnapparaj Mariasavary, Msgr. Benedict Zientek, and Rev. Joseph Choutapall presiding. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Sagecrest Alzheimer’s Care Center, Baptist Hospice, and Div. 5 of Baptist Memorial for their excellent care of Felda during her illness. Thanks also to Dr. Ty Hughston and staff and Dr. Chris Barnett from Baptist Hospice. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
