Yvonne Rainwater

Sammie Yvonne (Jones) Rainwater of Ballinger went to be with the Lord on April 7, 2010. She passed away at Ballinger Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 91.

Yvonne was born February 12, 1919 in Crews, Texas to Ralph Wayne and Florence (Johnson) Jones. She had been a lifelong resident of Runnels County. Yvonne married Rupert Rainwater on January 11, 1935, and for several years they lived on the family ranch in Crews. They moved to Ballinger in 1951. She worked many years at Jack’s Café and the Dairy Kreme in Ballinger, and she was a member of Ninth Street Church of Christ for 68 years.

Yvonne always had a smile on her face and never met a stranger. Her love for others was amazing. She was a simple lady full of love who will be missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Yvonne is survived by her two sons, Elwin Rainwater and wife, Robyn, of Atoka, Oklahoma and Gary Rainwater and wife, Sara, of Seguin; sisters, Laverne Goodfellow and Modene Caudle both of Ballinger, Sandra Goehring and husband, Don, of Paint Rock, and a brother, Billy Wayne Jones and wife, Ruth, of Sterling City. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Cindy Hayner and husband, Jeff, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Rhonda Benadum and husband, Phil, of Dos Palos, California, Cody Rainwater of Palm Beach, Florida, Travis Rainwater and wife, April, of High Point, North Carolina, Heather Viger and husband, Ty, of Slidell, Louisiana, Chad Walls of Seguin, and Mark Walls and wife, Brooke, of Austin. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation for family and friends on Friday, April 9 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Ninth Street Church of Christ in Ballinger with burial in the Crews Cemetery. Max Pratt will officiate.
