Johnny (Popo) Nunez, Jr.

August 6, 1947 — April 10, 2010

Johnny (Popo) Nunez, Jr. passed away at his residence. He left this world to be with the Lord on Saturday April 10th, 2010. Johnny was born August 6, 1947 in Ballinger, TX to Juan Nunez Sr. and Trine Soliz Nunez.

A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2010 at Lange Funeral Chapel in Ballinger with Mass of the Resurrection on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at St. Mary's Star of the Sea in Ballinger at 10:00 a.m. with Father Hubert Wade officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Johnny was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother Trine Nunez from Ballinger, TX, by his son Danny Nunez Sr. and wife Lucy and by his daughter Doreena Sanchez and husband Juan both of San Angelo, TX. Johnny is also survived by six sisters Alice Galvan and husband Julio, Mary Mata and husband George, Delia Hernandez and husband Raymond, Kay Jaramillo and husband Conrad, Julie Flores and Hopie Gonzales and husband Jimmy. Johnny had five grandchildren, Michelle Guebara, DJ (Danny Nunez Jr.), Cassandra Nicole Nunez, Anthony Sanchez, and Jennifer Sanchez; three great- grandchildren, Adriel and Christopher and the light of his life, Jadon Rey Sanchez.

Johnny's favorite past time was working in his yard planting his favorite vegetables especially "HOT" chilies. He loved spending time with his family. In particularly he took pride in the many customized cars that he built throughout his life, especially the 1954 Black Chevy that his visiting company could enjoy viewing in his living room. Johnny became well known for his auto body work and painting throughout his life. His legacy for the love of cars continues with his son and grandson DJ.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the San Angelo police department, Johnson’s Funeral Home in San Angelo, TX, and especially Johnny's good friends and neighbors that would always look out for him. Also, thank you to the good people at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger, TX. Pallbearers will be Juan Sanchez, Anthony Sanchez, DJ Nunez, Michael Mata, Michael Cantu, and Ben Albarado, Jr.

Vaya Con Dios, Papa, until I see you again, to hear you call me “Baby”……
