Pearl Ransbarger, age 83, of Ballinger passed away on April 11, 2010 at her home following a brief illness
She was born on August 8, 1926 in Ballinger, Texas to Benjamin Urban and Nora Maggie (Turner) McQueen. She lived her entire life in Ballinger. She attended Jean’s Beauty College in San Angelo in 1963. She then worked for Leota Powers, owner of Kut and Kurl, from 1963 to 1978. She owned and operated her own beauty shop, Kut and Kurl, from 1978 to 2004.
Pearl loved life and always had a positive attitude. She had a dry sense of humor that always made those around her smile. She was faithful to exercise on a daily basis at the Ballinger Wellness Center. She was a people person, engaging in conversations with all those she came in contact with. Pearl was a member of the Ballinger First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands, Dee Kemp in 1964 and Troy Ransbarger in 1988; four brothers, Dalton Mack McQueen, Herman (Buddy) McQueen, Marvin (Josh) McQueen, and an infant brother, Billy Zane McQueen; and five sisters, Dess Glover, Ann Ramsey, Mae Phillips, Faye Ray, and Eva Burris.
Pearl is survived by her son, Tommy Pleasants and wife, Judy, of Marlin and her daughter, Vickie Payne and husband, Roy Don, of Ballinger; a sister, Pauline Bradshaw of Ballinger; four grandchildren Julia Duke and husband, Randy, of Red Oak, Michael Don Payne of Dallas, Stacy Wilson and husband, Myron, of Melissa, and Scott Pleasants and wife, Buffie, of Arlington. Also surviving are eleven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and several very close friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, April 13 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. The funeral service will be Wednesday, April 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bobby Broyles officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
