Ramona C. Gonzales

Ramona C. Gonzales, longtime resident of Ballinger, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was 82.

She was born August 9, 1927 in Karnes City, Texas to Elojio and Dominga (Rodriquez) Castillo. She married Pablo S. Gonzales on August 20, 1957 in Karnes City. He preceded her in death June 18, 2007. She was employed with Dry Manufacturing in Winters for over 15 years before her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ballinger.

Mrs. Gonzales was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; brothers, Marcus Castillo, Cecilio Castillo, Avigilio “Lito” Castillo, and a sister, Enedina Castillo.

Ramona is survived by her children and their spouses, Paul Gonzales, Jr., Armando and Mary Ann Gonzales, Irma and Randall Ramos, all of San Angelo, Norma and John Escobar of Ballinger, and Albert Gonzales and Amparo Enriquez also of San Angelo.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Lorinda and Vidal Torres, Reynaldo Ramos, Jr., Maegan and Jesse Garces, Anthony and Aaron Gonzales of San Angelo, John and Nicolette Escobar of Ballinger, Marcus Fuentes of Spokane, Washington; and one great-grandson, Christopher James Rangel of San Angelo.

Rosary will be recited Wednesday, April 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home Chapel in Ballinger. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, April 15 at 10:30 a.m. at Ballinger Evergreen Cemetery with Father Hubert Wade officiating. Pallbearers will be sons-in-law and grandsons, Randall Ramos, John Escobar, John Escobar, Jr., Anthony Gonzales, Aaron Gonzales, and Reynaldo Ramos, Jr.

The family extends thanks to Father Wade, Dr. Rightmire, the staffs of Hospice of Ballinger and Ballinger Memorial Hospital, Keel Drug Store, Meals on Wheels, and special thanks to caretakers, Carolyn and Nellie.
