Danny Eugene Hamilton

Danny Eugene Hamilton, 64, longtime resident of Ballinger passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010.

He was born April 5, 1946 in Ballinger to Wesley Truman and Katrine (Thomasson) Hamilton both of whom preceded him in death. He attended Ballinger Schools and graduated with the BHS Class of 1964. He had worked for Dankworth Packing Company for over 30 years. He also operated a barbeque-antique shop and catered many area functions.

His musical talents were as famous as his culinary ones. Danny could pick and grin with the best, and he loved and shared his music in many ways, including the Ballinger Community Choir, the Doghouse Band, and regular singing sessions at nursing centers. Danny’s sense of humor was unique and unbounded—“Did you hear the one about…” was often the way he began conversations, after giving a famous Big Dan bear hug. He was dedicated to the Walk to Emmaus groups and held strong Christian convictions. He loved his family and friends unconditionally and was definitely loved by an entire community in return.

Danny is survived by two daughters, Jessica Hamilton of Austin, and Stefani Hamilton of Ballinger; a son, Michael Hamilton of California; a stepdaughter, Elissa Pechal; two sisters, Pat Clark and Linda Watson; a brother, Roddy and Bonnie Hamilton of Midland; his ex-wife/friend, Michelle Pechal and stephusband, James of Ballinger. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Oriana and Aydan King and Ella Hamilton—who gave him even more twinkles in his eyes; and many adoring family and friends who will all miss him.

Funeral services will be Sunday, April 25 at 2:00 p.m. at Ballinger High School Football Stadium with Don Sessom officiating. Burial will follow in Old Runnels Cemetery. After the burial service there will be a time of visitation for family and friends at Ballinger Community Center.
