Myrtice Etoil Hudson

February 10, 1918 — August 3, 2010

Myrtice Etoil Hudson, age 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at her home in Rowena, TX. She was born in Coleman County, Texas to Marcus Oral Lightfoot and Albertha Augusta (Jopling) Lightfoot on February 10, 1918. She married J.C. Hudson on August 14, 1937 in Miles. Together they raised two children and worked on their cotton farm. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Ballinger.

Myrtice was a homemaker. She was an accomplished seamstress and made afghans and quilts for her family. There was no better gift than to be blessed with one of her heirloom quilts. Her cooking was legendary within the family. Any visit to herhome was an adventure in the fridge. Although we ate many a frozen donut when we were there, we all remember her awesome pickles and snapless ginger snaps. Her family was everything to her, and she loved and was much loved in return.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her son: Jerald C. Hudson and wife Eileen of Kermit, TX; daughter: Karen L. Hunt and husband Dennis of Mesquite, TX; one sister: Allie Mae Bearfield of New Orleans, LA; eight grandchildren: Mandy, Melinda, Tina, Sean, Shari, Amy, John, and Dee; fifteen great-grandchildren; and her extended family: Rose and Matilda Hernandez.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of almost 70 years, J. C. Hudson; one brother: Oral Lightfoot; and four sisters: Kleta Cosby, Jessie Burson, Robbie Lee Barrett and Avis Murphy.

Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, August 6 from 6;00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Lange Funeral Home, officiated by Mike Burson. Interment will follow at the Miles Cemetery.
Granny, we will miss you, but are sure that Pampa has waited long enough for a good argument and a partner at the domino table.
