Annie Clara Jost, longtime resident of Rowena, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Ballinger Memorial Hospital at the age of 99.
She was born June 22, 1911 in Rowena to Joseph and Elizabeth (Schnurbusch) Franke, and she lived all her life in the Rowena/Eola area. She and Alfred John Jost were married in Rowena on November 21, 1939. She was a hard-working and devoted wife, mother, and homemaker as the couple raised a large farming family. Mr. Jost preceded her in death April 29, 2001. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena, Catholic Daughters, and St. Ann’s Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, and son-in-law, Danny Zly.
Annie is survived by her seven children, Barbara Hohensee and husband, Rudy, of Miles; Arlene Zly of Coyanosa; Betty Lehr and husband, Wayne, of Wall; Ethel Fuchs and husband, J. B., of Olfen; Terri Beach and husband, Ronnie, of San Springs, Oklahoma; Mary Mathis and husband, Charles, of Abilene; and Burnell Jost and wife, Lisa, of San Angelo. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be recited Sunday, October 31 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 1 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church with burial following in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be granddaughters, Karen Doherty, Sharon Smith, Paula Coots, Monica Zly Ivey, Angie Lehr Whitney, and Laura Beach Roush.
