Bobby Lynn Turner

January 18, 1934 — November 17, 2010

Bobby Lynn Turner, 76, of Ballinger, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at his residence, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

He was born January 18, 1934 in Crockett, TX to Alfred Cleon Turner and Dessie Lee (McQueen) Glover. Bobby married the love of his life, Charlene Carroll on May 26, 1951 in San Angelo. Together they raised a family and shared many an adventure. Most beloved were their trips to New Mexico and Colorado with their family and friends. Bobby loved his rainbow trout.

In the early 70’s Bobby opened their family business, the Turner’s Auto Clinic, and the vehicles of Ballinger were the happier for it. He sold his shop and retired in 2001.

Bob lived his life in devotion and love to his Lord. He was a longtime member and Elder of the First Christian Church of Ballinger. Words can not express how dear this church and its members were and are to Bobby and Charlene.

He was also a dedicated and decorated member of the Ballinger Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years. His years of service to the people of Ballinger and the surrounding communities are a monument to the selfless spirit of all volunteer firefighters.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a beloved daughter, Janie Anderson. And his best friend, Tuffy.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Charlene of Ballinger; a daughter, Diana Lee of San Angelo; two sons, Lynn Turner of Ballinger, and Randy Turner and wife, Carol, of Christoval; grandchildren Shane Watkins and wife Sherri, Shanna Calaway and husband Jody, Kenny Anderson, Ricky Goltl, Jr. and wife Cristie, Sonia Goltl, Crystal Goltl-Pitts, Beau and Dane Turner and their mother Sandie Turner, and Zachary Turner; 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandsons. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and so many cherished friends.

The family wishes to thank Carol Jennings and the caring staff of Ballinger Home Healthcare and Hospice. And a special thank you to Sam Keesee for all her TLC.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 21 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church of Ballinger. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lange Funeral Home of Ballinger.

“Your journey on earth has come to an end, but you have left us with the most precious things…the sweetness of your smile…the tenderness of your heart…the greatness of your charcter…the legacy of a great man…and the most precious of all…the most beautiful of memories. We love you, Pappa.”
