Our beloved Mom, Adele Leigh Meza, 44, of Miles, Texas went to be her heavenly father on Sunday, August 19, 2018.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 22 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Miles. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 23 with Father Ariel Lagunilla as celebrant. Internment will follow in Miles Cemetery.
Adele was born at 28 weeks on August 23, 1973, in Arlington, VA and was later transferred to Georgetown University in Washington D.C. where she spent two months before she could be sent home with her family. In 1979, the family moved to San Angelo, where she graduated from Lakeview High School in 1991. She later pursued a nursing career, attending Howard College where she graduated as an LVN in 2007. She worked as an LVN for many years in the San Angelo area.
Adele was a loving person. A friend to all she would meet. Her love for her family and friends ran deep.
As a Senior at LVHS, Adele played tennis and ranked 26 in the state. Adele’s love for sports continued with her involvement in her children’s activities. She thoroughly enjoyed attending their school related events especially sports. Being at all their games gave her great joy. She was always very proud of them and would encourage them to do their best. She had a great love for music and outdoors. She loved to cook and spend time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son Nathan Meza, her parents Linda Hippe Ward and Walter Hippe Jr., and her mother-in-law Socorro Meza
She is survived by her loving family – husband Luis Meza of Miles; children Alisea Meza and Joseph Meza, both of Miles; father Richard Gibney of New Bern, NC; her sisters Laura Brooks and husband Curtis, Melanie Sharpes and husband Jason, Roman and Susan Meza, Dora Caniglia, and Ernesto and Lourdes Meza of Piedras Negras, Mexico; aunts Gail Handova and Shirley Francis, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, including her very special, loving cousins and family in New York whom she loved to go visit and spend as much time with as possible. She is also survived by her best friends, Emily Garcia and family of San Angelo, and Monica McGee and family of San Angelo.
The family would also like to thank the entire Bulldog Community in Miles for the love and support they have shown to Adele and her family over the years.
Pallbearers for the service will be Jacob and Josh Caniglia, Jason Shapes, Curtis Brooks, Roman Meza, and Max Guerrero.
