Audon Reyes Pena, Jr.

October 28, 1948 — March 11, 2019

Audon Reyes Pena Jr. (Don) age 70, of Ballinger passed away Monday, March 11, 2019, peacefully while surrounded by his wife and children. He was born on October 28, 1948 to Audon and Olivia Reyes Pena in Ballinger, Texas. Don worked as a local painter and contractor for over forty five years. He was an avid fisherman and a member of several fishing clubs where he made many friends and shared memories doing what he loved the most. He also loved taking his children and grandchildren on fishing and camping trips. Another favorite of his was buying lottery tickets and the sounds of slot machines, ding-ding (that’s where the kids’ inheritance went). He loved spending time with his sweet dog Belle who loved giving him endless kisses. A great passion of his was playing his guitar to his children when they were little and as they grew into adults, he would play his guitar to many of his friends when they would stop by.

Don is preceded in death by two grandchildren, his father Audon Pena, sister Audelia Garcia and brother Tony Pena.

He is survived by his mother, Olivia Reyes Pena of San Antonio; brothers; Armando, Rudy and Arthur, sisters; Elvira Juarez, Lydia Rodriguez, Hopie Pena, his wife Cynthia Eaves Pena of Ballinger, Tx, sons; Paul Pena and wife Gabby of Oregon, Michael Pena and wife Lisa of Odessa, Tx, Don Pena and wife Eva of Ballinger Tx, and daughters; Lydia Bennet and Michael of San Angelo, Tx, Sandra Mata and husband Clemente of Ballinger, Tx, Christina Albarado and husband Mike of Ballinger, Tx, Monica Robles of San Angelo, Tx, Paulina Scott and husband Kendall of Holiday, Florida, Stephanie Escobar and husband Tony of Ballinger, Tx, Temika McDuffee of San Angelo, Tx. He was a proud grandpa to forty six grandchildren and thirty one great-grandchildren.

The Family would like to thank the staff of Ballinger Memorial Hospital and Shannon Medical Center for taking such great care of him. Also the many family friends, Lange Funeral Home and the First United Methodist Church.

A special thank you to long time friend of Don’s and family, Benjamin Gomez and family of Austin Tx.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Lange Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 15, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church.
