Bobby Ray Watkins passed away on Thursday November 1, 2018. He was born May 29, 1935 in Roscoe, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents J. R., and Margaret Watkins and his brothers; Roland, J.W., Jessie, Calvin, and Clyde Watkins. He is survived by his Sister Wanda Reed of Spearman, Texas, and his brother Lonnie Watkins, his children; Johnny & Imogene Watkins, Clyde & Kerri Watkins, Patricia Guiles, and Pamela Henderson, 9 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Bobby completed over 20 years of service in the Air Force. While stationed at Dyess AFB in Abilene Texas he was named Chief Martial Arts Instructor and Chief Small Arms Instructor. He was a Vietnam Veteran, and retired as a Master Sargent (E-7) while stationed at Carswell AFB in Fort Worth Texas. He then became a Tarrant County Deputy Sheriff, and later an Investigator for the Tarrant County D.A. He eventually retired for his last time to raise cattle on his Northern Palo Pinto County ranch. Bobby is remembered by family and friends as a wonderful, caring person who sincerely enjoyed helping his family and friends any way he could. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00-7:00 pm on Sunday, November 4 at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 pm on Monday, November 5 at Old Runnels Cemetery.
