Cerjio DelaGarza, Sr.

August 29, 1948 — February 4, 2025

Ballinger

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cerjio DelaGarza Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on February 4, 2025, at the age of 76, in Ballinger, Texas.

He was born on August 29, 1948, to Meliton and Anita Florez DelaGarza in Ballinger, Texas. Cerjio was a proud and devoted family man, who cherished every moment spent with his daughters, Lisa Garcia and Sylvia DelaGarza, his sons, Cerjio DelaGarza Jr. and Anthony DelaGarza, and especially his beloved grandchildren Destiny, Julie, Emmanuel, Jaden, Ripley, and Witten. He found immense joy in being their “Popo”, having them in his home, playing with them and creating lasting memories that will forever hold a special place in their hearts. Cerjio was most at-home on the dirt roads of West Texas. Having spent over four decades in the oilfields of Texas there was not a county road he did not know. Affectionately known as “Joe” to his oilfield family, he left a lasting impression to many he worked with over the years.

Cerjio spent his spare time working on classic cars, having restored an Impala and Mustang for his sons. His loyal Furry companions, Rocky and Murray, brought him comfort and joy, spending time with him outside, soaking in the warmth of the sun. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and spent several evenings watching games, alongside episodes of Gunsmoke, Yellowstone and classic westerns. A man of few words, he taught by example, instilling the values of family, hard work and loyalty, leaving an indelible mark on those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Cerjio is preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice DelaGarza, his parents, Meliton and Anita (Florez) DelaGarza, his three brothers, Ruben DelaGarza, George DelaGarza, and Richard DelaGarza, as well as his beloved furry companion Rocky.

He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Garcia and husband Rudy and Sylvia DelaGarza all of Ballinger; sons, Cerjio DelaGarza, Jr. and wife Candy and Anthony DelaGarza and wife Stacey all of Abilene; grandchildren, Destiny, Julie, Emmanuel, Jaden, Ripley, and Witten; by his brothers, Arthur, Raul and Joe DelaGarza and sisters, Alicia Morales, Josie Guijarro, Lupe Lopez, and Anita Ehlers. He is also survived by countless nieces, nephews and godchildren, as well as his fur buddy, Murray.

A rosary and memorial will be held for Cerjio on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 6:00pm at Lange Funeral Home.
