Charles "Charlie" Richard Moeller

January 9, 1957 — January 15, 2024

Charles “Charlie” Richard Moeller, 67, passed away at Ballinger Healthcare and Rehab on Monday, January 15, 2024.

Charlie was born on January 9, 1957, in Ballinger, Texas to Norbert and Magdalene Kocich Moeller.  He was raised on the Moeller farm north of Rowena. He attended Rowena Catholic School, Angelo State University, Texas A&M, and TSTC in Waco.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman, which is how he got the nickname Catfish Charlie.  Charlie wouldn’t say no to a poor boy trip where the Coast was his heart.  He looked forward to the Moeller annual jug fishing trip with his family.  He ran the fireworks stand in Rowena, and was the Runnels County Constable and notary for over 15 years.  He was a salesman for Kelly-Moore Paint Company, Dal Tex Candy Company, and John Deere Porter Henderson.  He worked for the Eden Detention Center, Ballinger Co-Op, and owned his own business, Charlie’s Corner in Rowena.  He was also known for his cleanup work after estate sales, playing Santa for area children, selling storage sheds, and running the St. Joseph Festival Bingo for many years.  He was a beekeeper and raised chickens, guineas, ducks, and turkeys and would buy up all of the hatchlings at the end of a Tractor Supply sale.  Charlie was also well-known for his sauerkraut at his family reunions and the evening meal at the Olfen festival.  He was also a volunteer for the Rowena Fire Department.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents and numerous aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his daughter, Madison; his sister, Sue Richards; his brothers Galen (Rosaena) Moeller and David (Rita) Moeller; his nephews, James (Kimberly) Moeller, Thomas (Natalie) Moeller, and Gary (Cynthia) Costello; his nieces, Leslie (Josh) Long, Marlena (Clint) Meyer, Chelsea (Heath) Thompson, Megan (Marshal) Rihn, Taylor (Andy) Cunningham, and Tatum Hagen; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and stepdaughter Victoria (Charles) Blythe.  He also leaves behind his fur babies, Scrappy, Bear, and PeePee.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface Catholic Church building fund.

The family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff at Ballinger Healthcare and Rehab, especially Mary for his early morning drives to dialysis.

A rosary will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial mass, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, in Olfen, Texas, with Fr. Tim Hayter and Fr. Ariel Lagunilla celebrating.
