Charles Michael Edwards

Charles Michael Edwards, "Mike", age 62, passed away on Monday, July 2, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas after years of living with heart disease.  Mike was born in San Antonio on December 8, 1955 to doting parents Lenora Larue and Charles Glynn Edwards who had long awaited their bouncing boy.

Mike's parents Lenora, a Ballinger native, and Glynn were introduced by their sisters in San Angelo following WWII, married and spent the remainder of their lives in San Antonio where Glynn was a firefighter and his son's hero. Mike's parents died in his youth, and it seemed natural he would return to live in his mother's family home.

After graduating high school in Ballinger, he served his country honorably as a sergeant in the United States Air Force where he received training as a radiologic technologist. He went on to have a long and successful career of nearly 40 years in medical imaging.

Naturally laid back, Mike had the knack for putting people at ease.  Patients in emergency situations responded to his confidence and skill while friends enjoyed his light-hearted banter while he ran the pool table!  He couldn't carry a note but loved to sing along with whatever was on the radio and dance the last dance. Never without a dog by his side, he took every opportunity to be outside watering the grass or smelling the flowers.  The porch was always his favorite room in the house.  Always the dreamer of big dreams and the teller of great stories, we will miss all the richness he shared.  Most of all...He loved God and us!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lenora Edwards; and his son, Justin Edwards.  He is survived by his son, Jordan Edwards and his wife Jessie; granddaughter, Marlee Grace Edwards and his sister, Pamela Kelly and her husband Emil.

The family will receive friends during visitation from 6:00– 7:30 p.m. , Monday July 9th at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger, Tx. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 at Old Runnels Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Heart Association or San Antonio Pets Alive.
