Charles Joseph Rogers, Jr., 92, resident of Rutledge Road, Greenwood SC, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2025, at his daughter’s home on Fripp Island, SC.
Born December 3, 1932, in Columbia, SC, he was a son of the late Pauline Shaw Rogers and Charles Joseph Rogers, Sr. He was a graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School in Cayce, SC and was also a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He received his Master’s from Athens College in Athens, AL, and was a US Air force Veteran. He retired as plant manager of Monsanto in Greenwood, SC, and he was a founding member and first CEO and Chairman of the Board of Greenwood Bank and Trust. He was also inducted into the Greenwood Hall of Fame.
He was a member of the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Anderson SC.
Surviving are his children, Charles Joseph “Joe” Rogers, III (Pam) of Greenwood, SC, Robert Michael Rogers (Marsha) of Fairhope, AL, Stephen Bruce Rogers (Stephanie) of Kalaheo, HI and Tracy Rogers Bowen (Dave) of Fripp Island, SC, Beverly Rogers Taylor (Will) of Greenwood, SC, and Christopher Allan Rogers (Rhonda) of Greenville, SC; a host of beloved grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Cullen and Gail Kupfer; and a brother, Henry Mears (Karen).
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Sally Jo Eisenbeck Rogers; a step-mother, Mary Knight Rogers, a great-grandson, Dylan Taylor; a brother, Robert Rogers; and two sisters, Jennifer Chumley and Norvelle McQuillan.
The family will receive friends at Blyth Funeral Home in Greenwood SC from 5-7 Wednesday evening.
A public visitation will be held at the chapel at Lange Funeral Home on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm with his graveside to follow at the Protestant Cemetery in Rowena, Texas at 2:00 pm. Rev. Thomas Baden will officiate.
