Charles Edward Williams, 68, of Olfen, Texas, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023, in Amarillo, Texas.

He was born on October 11, 1954, to Sidney and Laverne (Green) Williams in Big Spring, Texas.   Charles was a man’s man who loved the great outdoors, especially fishing and hunting and watching the PBR on television.  His work as a crane operator was a huge driving component of his life, that brought him to many close friendships and work relationships that will be treasured forever.   Charles made friends everywhere that work led him, and there were many.  One of his greatest accomplishments was accomplished this year, when he was named the 51st World Champion Rattlesnake Racer at the San Patricio Rattle Snake Races.  Charles was also the first person to win the same race over 50 years ago.    He married Darla Hoelscher on June 18, 2005, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Olfen, Texas.  Charles was a hard-working family man who provided for and loved each one of them beyond measure.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents Sidney and Laverne Williams, his son Wayne Lacey Williams, and his brother Danny Wayne Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years Darla, his daughter Crystal Williams of Ballinger, son T.J. Williams of Hickory, NC, and daughter Julia Williams of Olfen, Texas. Charles will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren Lacey Jane Williams, Tristen Williams, Joey Williams, and Sawyer Williams.

A visitation for Charles will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger, Texas.  His Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Olfen, Texas with Father Ariel Lagunilla celebrating.
