D. B. "Decatur" Jones

D. B. “Decatur” Jones, 86, of Ballinger passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Central Texas Nursing and Rehabilitation.

He was born December 26, 1932 to Stephen Decatur (S.D.) Jones and Robbie Louise Pannell Jones in Knox City, Texas.  D. B. was baptized into Christ at the age of 14 at the Church of Christ in Knox City.  He attended schools in Knox Co. and graduated in 1951 at O’Brian High School. D. B. attended Abilene Christian College from 1951 to 1953 and then attended Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College in Okmulgee, OK.  He graduated in December of 1955.

D. B. worked for NCR (National Cash Register) from March 19, 1956 until January 1, 1994. He retired after thirty-four years of service. While working in Midland, TX, he met Linda Fay Bradley, and they married on January 18, 1958. They had three children; a son, Leslie Dean and two daughters, Robbie Jean and Cynthia Lynn.  He moved to West Monroe, LA in 1965 and lived there for thirty-four years.  He was a member of the Church of Christ and worshiped at White’s Ferry Road congregation and later worshiped at the Calhoun congregation.  After moving to Ballinger in 1999, D. B. was a member of the Avenue B Church of Christ.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

D. B. is survived by his wife, Linda of Ballinger; his children, Robbie Smith of Hot Springs, AR, Cyndy Caston of Bronte, and Les Jones of West Monroe, LA; his thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Danny Jones and wife, Jennifer; a sister, Paula Jean Adams and husband, Craig; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday from 6:00-7:00 pm at Lange Funeral Home.  Services will be held on Sunday at 2:30 pm at the Avenue B Church of Christ with Max Pratt officiating.  Burial will follow at the Robert Lee Cemetery.
