Dale Monse

Dale Monse, 85, of Ballinger, Texas, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021, at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo.

He was born September 30, 1935, in Memphis, Texas, to Gus and Edith (McGuire) Monse.  Dale married JoAnn Moore on November 30, 1958, in Chula Vista, California.  He was a very proud Marine and served his country honorably in Korea, Japan, and the Philippines.  Dale was head mechanic for San Diego Gas and Electric for 30 years in San Diego, California.  He and JoAnn were members of Glory Road Cowboy Church.

Dale was a special, one-of-a-kind, loving husband and father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He spent all his life sharing his love, helping anyone in whatever way he could.  When you had his friendship, you had it all the way and for life.

Dale became a Mason on October 18, 1984, and had 36 years of service in the Lodge. He was a Master Mason in Good Standing and held the Grand Lodge offices of District Communications Officer and District Deputy Grand Master.  He loved being a Mason, as well as being a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Shriners, and Scottish Rite.

Dale was extremely grateful to everyone who was in these organizations with him. He knew that these people, as well as police officers, firemen, and those who help make someone’s day better, were part of something good and honorable.  He considered them our God-given guardians.

He loved old cars and could make any of them work.  He could make an old car look like new with a wonderful paint job.  Dale didn’t really care for the newer cars because a backyard mechanic couldn’t work on them.  He thought they all looked alike and said you could take the nameplate off a new car, put it on any car you wanted, and no one would know the difference.

When he lived in San Diego, Dale worked in partnership with the San Diego Border Patrol.  If agents seized a vehicle, they would take it to Dale, and he would work on it.  He would clean it up, paint it, “booby” trap it, and re-sell it.  Border Patrol would watch for that vehicle to come across the border, and the process would start all over again.

Dale is survived by his wife, JoAnn, and his children, Debbie Forrest and husband, Ed, of Wall; Mike Monse and wife, Terri, of Abilene; Kelly Monse and wife, Elizabeth, of Ballinger.  Also surviving are grandchildren, Andrea and husband, Christopher; Jennifer and husband, Darrell; David; Jordan and wife, Jessie; Morgan; Meagan and husband, Benji; and Erica; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 12, at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger.  A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, on Wednesday, January 13, at Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger with Myron Halford officiating.

Donations in Dale’s memory may be made to the Glory Road Cowboy Church for Children’s Bible Camp.

Dale dearly loved everyone in Ballinger, at our Glory Road Cowboy Church, his angels at Walmart, and all over the place.  Always remember he loved each of you, whoever you are and wherever you are!  May God bless and keep each of you in His own special way, and I love you, too.  Thank you for giving your heart and love to my beloved husband, Dale.
