Daniel "Doc" Robert Huard

Daniel ‘Doc’ Huard, 70, of Ballinger, Texas, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at his residence.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date.

Doc was born at Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital on June 20, 1953.  He was adopted by Father Robert P. Huard and mother Ines Pearl DeVries. Later in life, with the help of a friend, he located his biological family with whom he enjoyed getting to know and visiting with the last few years of his life.

Doc was raised in California and served in the U.S. military and was stationed in Germany. In 2010, Doc came to Texas and worked in the wind energy field.  Doc then changed directions and received his degree at TSTC and became a licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor using his knowledge and experience to help others. One of the things Doc was most proud of was receiving his 40-year pin from AA. Doc would readily tell anyone how AA changed his life.

He was survived by a daughter, Madeline, his grandchildren, and many friends. He is also survived by his biological siblings, Cate Longacre, Linda Longacre, Tracy Westphal, Julia Longacre, Barney Longacre, and Bart Longacre.

Doc was preceded in death by his parents and his special friend Melanie Pilgram.
