Donald “Don” George Robinson, 82, of Ballinger, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, July 8, 2022.
He was born on October 16, 1939, to George Sheppard and Gertrude Ellen (Damron) Robinson in Ballinger, Texas. On June 27, 1958, he married the love of his life Frances “Fran” Cleo Reynolds in Eldorado, TX, and recently celebrated 64 years together. He moved to Ft. Stockton in 1967 and worked for 9 years for Firestone as a test engineer. In 1976, he began a career in oilfield maintenance and construction supervision for Creole, Stewart & Stevenson, and GE. He spent 20 years working abroad all over the world, in countries including Zaire, Nigeria, and the Dominican Republic. For many years he worked as a resident manager in China and Egypt and took Fran along with him to enjoy the journey. Don was a member of the Church of Christ, the Lion’s Club, and Elks Lodge. He especially enjoyed camping and boating at nearby lakes with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Shep and Gert Robinson, and his sisters Wanda Robinson Davis and Janell Robinson Caulder.
Don is survived by his wife, Fran, his daughter Sherlene Bagley of Arlington, his son Kerry Don Robinson of Midland, his grandchildren Wesley Robinson and wife Chrissie of Midland, Ronny Robinson and wife Katie also of Midland and, Claire and Chloe Bagley of Arlington, TX, along with great-grandchildren Camron Bettis, Spencer, Hunter, Cooper and Preston Robinson. He is also survived by his brother Edward Robinson and wife Betty of Eldorado. A visitation for Don will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia Society in Don’s name.
