Donald Ernest White

Donald Ernest White, age 84, passed away at his country home in Ballinger, TX surrounded by his wife and family after a hard-fought battle with lung cancer on March 19 ^th , 2023.

Donald (Don) was born on May 4 ^th , 1938, in Monahans, TX. He was the youngest son of Sylvia Hodges and E. S. White. He is preceded in death by 3 sisters (Lorraine Woods, Genelle Brumlow and Diantha Dennis) and 2 brothers (Robert White and Benny White). He has one surviving sister, Rosetta Carlton of Carbon, Texas.

He joined the army at 17 years old. Upon his return, he visited his sister and brother-in-law in Ballinger, Texas and met the enduring love of his life. On February 28 ^th , 1959, he became the loving husband of Doris Mae Stokes.  Donald was the beloved father of 4 children. He is survived by his daughter, Donna Gray, husband Steve, and granddaughter Francesca of Ballinger; his daughter Dedra Marrow and grandsons, Mason, Graham and Garison of Ballinger; his daughter Dionn White and grandchildren Felicia (spouse Tony Lopez), Morgan (spouse David Cox), Duncan and Madelyn of San Angelo; and his son Dwayne White, wife Elizabeth and grandchildren Joseph (spouse Cathryn Baird), Hannah, Lawson and Magdalen of Ennis.  Doris and Donald have 2 great-grandchildren, John Baird and Noah Cox. He is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Wayne Marrow.

Donald spent his life working with his hands as a mechanic and at his property, beautifying and maintaining the acres and home. He had a lifelong fascination for automobiles and loved to be outside in the country air, watching birds and raising goats. He built a life where family was the most important thing, and he was the strong center that worked hard to give them everything that they needed. Making sacrifice for his family was something he did without hesitation. His children and his grandchildren were the joys of his life.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 24th from 5:30-7 pm at Lange Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 25 ^th at 2 pm at Lange Funeral Home with Bracken Bean officiating. Interment will follow at Old Runnels Cemetery.
