Dorothy "Dottie" Mary Rose Frerich

December 5, 1930 — October 25, 2023

Dorothy Mary Rose Lange Frerich

Dottie departed her loving family on October 25, 2023.

Dottie was born in Olfen, TX. On December 5, 1930, to Robert and Hildagarde Matthiesen Lange. Dottie was raised on a farm in Olfen, where her love for music, cards, and dominos began as they would play them every Sunday on their front porch. Dottie met her husband Floyd at the Sunday Dances in Olfen and Rowena. They married March 27, 1951, at Sacred Heart Church, San Angelo, TX.

Together, Floyd and Dottie raised eight beautiful children, instilling the importance of faith, family, and acts of service.  Dottie held many titles throughout her life, including: mother, housewife, school cafeteria manager, president of the PTA and School Board for many years, chairman of the Sacred Heart Fall Festival, organist for 25 years at Sacred Heart Cathedral and the Carmelite Nuns in Christoval, and 4-H club manager.  Together with friends, Floyd and Dottie started the Silver Spur Benefit dance, auction and quilt raffle for the West Texas Rehab Center. She served as a member of numerous organizations including: Catholic Daughters, Altar Society, the Dancing Dozen, the Western Dance Club, and the St John’s/Shannon Hospital Auxiliary Board. Dottie was also a past president of the Hoelscher-Buxkemper Family Reunion and was instrumental in producing “the book” which contains the genealogical record for over 9 generations of her German heritage.

Dottie’s pride and joy were her eight children and 25 grandchildren. You could always find a full house of laughter and a good time at Dottie and Floyd’s where everyone would gather. Dottie never worried about the small things, her motto always being “everything will fall into place” or her famous “whatever”.

In her spare time, you could find Dottie on the dance floor, playing dominos or taking your money in a game of poker. A special thanks to the Queen of Hearts poker group, family, friends, and anyone else who has ever had to endure her luck at the poker table. And always remember “5-Card Draw, One-Eyed Jack, King with an Axe, and a Pair of Natural 7s takes it all.”

She is preceded in death by her husband Floyd, daughter Cindy Willmann, parents Robert and Hilda Lange, sisters Elvira Halfmann and Adeline Eggemeyer, brothers Werner Lange, Gilbert Lange, Jerome Lange, R.B. Lange, George Lange, and Hubert Lange, sisters-in-law Katherine Lange, Olga Lange, Louise Lange, Juanita Lange and brothers-in-law Henry Halfmann, Hubert Eggemeyer, Hubert Frerich, Leon Frerich, Arnold Frerich and Milton Piwonka.

She is survived by her children Lou Ann Multer (Mark), Kevin Frerich (Kathy), Mary Leggett, June Looka (Howard), Mark Frerich (Jean), Lisa Franklin (Mike), Becky Cockrell (Flash), son-in-law David Willmann, grandchildren Richard Multer (Sabrina), Lindsey Jones (Nathan), Robert Multer (Katie), Jennifer Williams (Craig), Brandi Bailey (Matt), John David Willmann, Becca Williams (Toby), Brandon Leggett (Laurie), Blake Leggett, Bryce Leggett (Kirsten), Briley Leggett (Alexis), Jordan Sefcik (Justin), Nicole Klein (Dustin), Cody Looka (Amy), Mathew Looka (Karah), Bayleigh Miller (Ryan), Mackenzie Atuan (Mark), Ben Pollard, Samantha Warick (Sawyer), Alexis Kleman (Bryant), Sarah Theriot (fiancé Tony), Lacy Franklin (fiancé Adrian), Christy Cockrell, Kelcey Richardson (Wes), Charlee Cockrell (fiancé John); and 40 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dottie’s caregivers, especially Sara Martinez, Olga, Norma, Emily, Minnie, and Margaret. Their skillful dedication, love, and support was truly a blessing.
