In the spring of 1963 at the Rendezvous Drive-In, she met a young airman named Richard “Whitey” Roberts from Union Springs, New York. They were married on Oct. 17, 1964, at Johnson Street Church of Christ in San Angelo. Following a honeymoon trip to visit relatives in Miami, Florida, Dorothy and Whitey made their way to Rochester, New York, for a time, where Whitey worked for a furniture store and Dorothy worked for Bausch & Lomb. Soon, they returned to San Angelo, where Dorothy again worked for Hemphill-Wells. Their daughter, Pamela “Pam” DeAnn, was born in 1966, and their son, Randall “Randy” Russell, was born in 1970. She and Whitey also owned the BYOB Water Store in San Angelo before their retirement. Dorothy’s hobbies included doll collecting, family genealogy, and crocheting.
