Terry Dwaine Hardy, 78, of Santa Anna, Texas, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023, in Coleman.
He was born on August 16, 1945, to Terry and Velma (Lee) Hardy, in Ballinger, Texas. He graduated from Hart High School and graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for years in the oil and gas industry designing refineries and pipelines. He met his sweetheart of 57 years, Sandra Hurt, in the small town of Maverick when they were children. He married her on December 23, 1965, in Miles Texas. He was a loving husband and dedicated family man with two children and one granddaughter.
Dwaine loved building and flying remote-controlled airplanes and had such an interest in flight that he eventually got his pilot’s license. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors and would spend much of his free time in retirement there.
Dwaine was an avid animal lover and an animal advocate. He had dogs and cats all his life, many of which were rescues, and even made pets of some of his cattle he raised. One particular bull would come running for head scratches when he saw Dwaine.
Dwaine was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother Dale. Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Sandra of Santa Anna, son, Chad Hardy of Ballinger, daughter, Sherry Cavazos of Ballinger, and granddaughter, Lilianna Cavazos of Ballinger. He is also survived by two sisters, Sue Nuttall and Debbie Bayles.
A time of visitation will be held Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 6:00 pm at Lange Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 8, 2023, at 11:00 am, at Glory Road Cowboy Church, in Ballinger with Myron Halford officiating. Interment will follow at Old Runnels Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Humane Society of Ballinger and Critter Shack Rescue of San Angelo. Donations can be sent directly or made through their websites at hsballinger.org and crittershack.org
