Dwayne Alan Love, 77, of Ballinger, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, October 13, 2024.
He was born on January 21, 1947, in La Mesa, California, to Jeff Burke and Madonna Narcissus (Cragg) Love. Dwayne married the love of his life, Bobbie West Alexander, in a ceremony in Odessa, Texas, on July 5, 1977. They shared 47 beautiful years together, filled with love and adventures stateside and overseas. Dwayne served honorably in the United States armed services as a member of the Navy and wore the proud badge of honor of being a decorated Vietnam War Veteran. Dwayne loved many things, but above all his family, and as a loving husband, he was said to never refuse his wife anything, big or small, that truly mattered to her. He loved classic cars and spent a great deal of time working with his good buddy, Landy Cason, on his 1967 Plymouth GTX. Together, the two could be found "Cruisin the Coast" and had several stories to share.
Dwayne was a proud member of the VFW, the Classic Car Club of San Angelo, and the Glory Road Cowboy Church in Ballinger.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Madonna Love, his mother-in-law Rhody Mae West, his son-in-law Tommy Turney Jr., brother-in-law Jack Bedford, and his nephew Blake Maynard.
He is survived by his beloved wife Bobbie Love, his daughter Carrie Luera (Ronnie), his son Dustin Alexander, his brother Arthur Ray Love (Sandra), his sisters Barbara Bedford and Linda Maynard (Dan). Dwayne will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren Haleigh Turney Fabacher (Dillon), Ty Turney, Ashlyn Alexander, and Eli Alexander, and several nieces and nephews. As well as his three loving sisters-in-law Lois Smith, Laverne Baker and Virginia Hill and special nephew Glen Mauldon.
A visitation for Dwayne will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger, Texas. His funeral service will follow on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Glory Road Cowboy Church in Ballinger, with Lynn Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Old Runnels Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund in Dwayne's name or to Meal on Wheels in Ballinger, Texas.
