April 6, 1919 — April 25, 2022

Emily Havlak, 103, of Rowena, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Monday, April 25, 2022, at Regency House in San Angelo, Texas.

She was born on Sunday, April 6, 1919, to August and Josephine (Mazur) Havlak in Lowake, Texas.  Emily lived on the Havlak farm for over 60 years between Rowena and Ballinger.  She attended Catholic School in Rowena and spent her days working on the farm, chopping weeds in cotton fields, picking cotton, cooking, and taking care of her mother.  In 1992 she bought a home in San Angelo, Texas on Pecos Street and lived there for 16 years.  After selling her house she moved to Royal Estates where she resided for 9 years before moving to her final home, Regency House, on September 1, 2017.  During her time on Pecos St., she met a friend, Matt Muehlstein, who was delivering her Meals on Wheels.  They kindled a unique friendship based on playing straight dominos and would play every Tuesday for over 15 years.  They played over 1886 games together and Emily ended up taking the lead and winning 944 while Matt won 942.  Emily loved polka music, chocolate candy, ice cream, fried chicken, and the color red.

Emily is preceded in death by her parents August and Josephine Havlak, her brothers Emil Havlak, Felix Havlak, Ludwig Havlak, and Phillip Havlak, as well as her sister Sister Marcia.

She is survived by her brother Joe Havlak, many nieces and nephews, and a very large and beautiful extended family.
