Eric Robert Johnson

May 26, 1951 — May 4, 2021

Eric Robert Johnson was born in New Albany, Indiana on May 26, 1951, and passed away at home on May 4, 2021, after a long battle with several health issues.  He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Johnson, and their son, Clayton Johnson.  He is also survived by family in Indiana; a sister, Caryn Moore and her family, daughter Abby James and her family, and daughter Amy Nunez and her family.

Eric worked at Ethicon in San Angelo for 15 years and then retired to take care of his family.  As son Clayton started school, Eric volunteered at Ballinger Elementary and Kids Club at 7 th Street Baptist Church.  As Eric continued to volunteer at Ballinger schools, he became known for always wearing Christian tee-shirts and having a kind word for all those he met.

Many of the business owners in Ballinger knew Eric as he enjoyed spending time with them.  If anyone needed help, Eric was always ready to help them.  Eric would go to Ballinger as much as 5 times per day, simply because he enjoyed being with people.  As Eric’s health declined, the one thing he really missed was not being able to drive to Ballinger and spend time with his friends.

While there will not be a service as Eric wished to be cremated, there will be a viewing at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger on Monday, May 10, 2021, from 9:00, am to 8:00 pm.  Eric’s wife thanks Ballinger Hospice Services and their nurses for their care during the last 7.5 months of his life.

If you wish to honor Eric, the family asks that you make a donation to your favorite charity.
