Eric Vaughn Penkert

April 3, 1968 — December 5, 2019

Eric Vaughn Penkert was born on April 3, 1968, in Marshfield, Missouri. He left this earthly life on December 5, 2019, and joined his Heavenly Father.

Eric was a Navy brat and attended schools in several states. He was a Certified Nurses Aide by trade, working in different settings over the years. Eric loved to fish, especially in the rivers and lakes of Missouri. He was a catch-and-release fisherman most of the time but was known to give his catch to someone who wasn’t having much luck. The only thing he loved more than fishing was his family. Eric loved to spend time with his children, they were the light of his life.

Eric is preceded in death by his parents, James F. And Kathryn (Bennett) Penkert and Larry and Betty Davis. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Elizabeth (Lair) Penkert of Miles, son Christopher Penkert of Missouri, daughter Crystal Penkert and granddaughter Emmi of Arizona, daughters Alysa Lair and Karen Penkert, both of Miles. He is also survived by his siblings, Kim (Penkert) Easley of Missouri, Jimmy Penkert of California, Terri (Penkert) Johnston of Missouri, Sherri (Penkert) Ramirez of Missouri and Justin Penkert of Missouri, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Miles United Methodist Church on December 14, 2019, at 4 pm for local family and friends. A similar gathering will be held in Missouri at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Challenged Children’s Hunt or Texas Parks and Wildlife.
