Foy E Wilson

December 6, 1924 — March 31, 2022

Foy E. Wilson, 97, passed away in Brownwood, Texas on March 31, 2022.

He was born on December 6, 1924, between Norton and Ballinger to Elmer and Ruby Faye (Poole) Wilson.  Foy and Margie Morgan were married on October 19, 1947, in Ballinger, Texas, and shared 66 years together before her passing on July 15, 2014.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in San Angelo, Texas.  Foy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  Foy received his bachelor’s degree from Hardin Simmons University where he graduated in three years. He was a massive University of Texas fan; some would even say he bled burnt orange.  Attending Longhorn sporting events brought him a lot of joy, especially football games.  Foy was a businessman that enjoyed working in his yard, reading crime novels in his spare time, and helping with the Sunday School classes at church.  Foy also enjoyed a good round of golf with his friends and family on the weekends.  Foy was a US Marine, honorably discharged, and reached the rank of 2 nd Lieutenant.   He received the Victory medal in World War II, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Occupational Ribbon for his service.  He served in the Asiatic and American Theaters.  Foy was a standout athlete in high school leading the Ballinger Bearcats to a regional title his senior year.  His teammates gave him the nickname “spider” because of his elusiveness and speed.  Most of his career was spent with GMAC which led him to live in many places in the Western Hemisphere including stops in Argentina, Brazil, and New York City.

Foy is preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Ruby Wilson, his beloved wife Margie, his nephew Ronnie Bradshaw, and two sisters and a brother.

He is survived by his son John Wilson and wife Kimara of Brownwood, Texas, and his daughter Susan Garvin and husband Bill of San Angelo, Texas.  He is also survived by his five grandchildren Avery, Camden, Brevin, Christopher, and Julie, and two great-grandchildren Landon, Caylynn, and Cheyanne.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger with John Bradshaw officiating.
