Frankie Wojtek was born July 8, 1939, in Sanco, Texas, to V.V. and Jessie Wojtek. He passed from this world on March 24, 2025. He is a graduate of Robert Lee High School. He worked at the local service station during high school and began his lifelong commitment to hard work. After graduation, he worked for a pipeline company in Silver, Texas. He moved to San Angelo and worked at Landers Auto Parts before he began his 30-year career with GTE in 1959. During his career with GTE, he worked in numerous areas in the Concho Valley, including Big Lake, Texon, Miles, Rowena, Menard, and Eden.
He married the love of his life, Betty Rohmfeld, on September 5, 1959, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rowena. Frankie joined the Catholic Church in 1959 and was devoted to his faith, actively serving his parishes in numerous ways. They were active members of St. Charles Catholic Church in Eden for many years, and following their move to San Angelo, they were members of Holy Angels Catholic Church. The marriage was blessed with his beloved daughters, Donna Wojtek Kelley and Deanna Wojtek Grumbles. The family settled in Eden, Texas, in 1961 and began farming and ranching in 1968. He and Betty spent numerous hours working on their farm and ranch, showing his family the value of a strong work ethic. They enjoyed camping trips with friends, community activities, and Friday night football games. When he wasn’t working, Frankie and Betty created beautiful memories in their travels to places including Hawaii, Alaska, Belize, Honduras, and Spain.
Frankie acquired the new name "Pa” in 1977 with the arrival of his “pride and joy,” Lea Kelley. In 1986, Pa was blessed with his favorite sidekick and grandson, Jeff Fisher, also known as "Pa's Shadow." Pa passed on many life lessons to all who were fortunate to spend time with him. Known as “Mr. Fix-It” to his family, there wasn’t anything Pa couldn’t fix, and we soon dubbed everything he touched as “another perfect job.”
After retiring from GTE, Frankie served as Concho County Commissioner of Precinct 3 for eight years and continued farming and ranching until his semi-retirement in 2021.
Frankie was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, and six sisters.
Left to cherish his memory is Betty, his wife of 65 years. Daughters, Donna Wojtek Kelley of Kerrville and Deanna Wojtek Grumbles (Glenn), of Harper. Brother Marlow Wojtek (Paula) of Highland Park. Brother-in-law William Rohmfeld (Glenda) of Ballinger. Granddaughter, Lea Kelley and Grandson Jeff Fisher (Dusty) all of San Angelo. His Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena, Texas, with Father Charles Greenwell celebrating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery also in Rowena, Texas.
