Gavier "Jay" Martinez Gonzales, Sr., 83, of Ballinger, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, April 15, 2021, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on April 25, 1937, to Ignacio and Angelita (Martinez) Gonzales in Ballinger, Texas. On April 12, 1964, at St. Joseph's in Ballinger, he married the love of his life, Marjorie Nombrano, and together they shared over 57 blissful years. Jay worked for over 40 years for the Texas Highway Department in Ballinger, Texas. He loved remodeling his house and invested many years and blood, sweat, and tears into making it the home that it is now. He was also a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and loved to cook out and hang out with his family.
Gavier is preceded in death by his parents Ignacio and Angelita Gonzales, his infant daughter Gina Marie Gonzales, his brothers Jose (Joe) and Ignacio (Nachito) Gonzales Jr, and his sister Ruperta Flores.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie, his sons Gavier Jr., Danny, and Jason, and his sisters Pauline Garcia, and Carolina Perez. Gavier will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren, TJ, Danny Ray, Sariah, Arianna, Brittney, Glenn, Gypsie, David, and Rae; as well as his great-grandchildren Xzavier Jay, and Zayden TJ Gonzales.
A rosary will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021, at 6:00 pm at the Chapel at Lange Funeral Home. His Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at 10:00 am at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church with Father Yesu Mulakaleti celebrating. Interment will follow at the Latin American Cemetery.
