Geneva Lanell Peterson, 79, of San Angelo, Texas passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by those she loved on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.
Geneva was born on Monday, September 29, 1941, to Luther Lee and Bura Vivian (Blake) Smith in Lampasas, Texas. She married the love of her life, Elmer Peterson, on July 11, 1961, and they shared 59 years together. Elmer and Geneva were members of the Cowboy Church in Ballinger, Texas. Geneva enjoyed crafting all kinds of things, including ceramics, painted glass and art. She could be found perusing garage and estate sales as well as working in her yard, which were some of her favorite places to be. She also really enjoyed playing casino slots. However, above all things, she deeply loved her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents Luther and Bura Smith, and her brother Luther Lee Smith, Jr.
Geneva is survived by her husband Elmer, her daughter Kathy Roberts and husband Bill of Grape Creek; her sister Bobbie Lois Fry of Winters; sister Joann Tubbs and husband Dale of Winters; sister Peggy and brother-in-law Roy Peterson of Ballinger; and brother Conrad Smith of Winters. She is also tenderly remembered by her grandchildren Kevin Page and wife Samantha of San Angelo; Khrystal Page and husband Felix of Grape Creek; Kayla Page of San Angelo; and Jennifer and Nathan Zimmerman of Castroville, Texas, as well as 15 great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Geneva will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Her funeral service will follow the next day at 10:00 am on Friday, February 26, 2021, at the Glory Road Cowboy Church in Ballinger, with Myron Halford officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Geneva’s honor.
